Look back, and look ahead, with wonder and joy. (And courage! Even in spite of everything.)
Let's wrap of 2024 together. I'm offering a bonus series to create a '101 Wonderful Things' year-end practice for us to do together. Free for paid subscribers of this newsletter
In the weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, most of us are so frazzled from purchasing gifts and planning celebrations that we hardly have a moment for ourselves to regroup and reflect as we enter the new year.
What if instead, we made a little space each week to take a breath.
What if we also set aside some time to look back at the year that just passed, and set intentions for the year to come?
For three decades I’ve been doing just that! Each year, I take the week between Christmas and New Year to make a list of 101 Wonderful Things about the Year that just passed.
That simple practice takes some time—but it’s worth it!
Making my annual list of 101 Wonderful Things has taught me something about the art of building a capacity for wonder all year long.
PLUS it has developed into a larger practice of self-reflection, course-correction, and leading a more intentional and meaningful life.
Best of all, I’ve added creativity and color to the process…so I now look forward to this slightly chaotic and always rewarding practice. I’ve also built in compassion and grace.
Some years I even give myself until the Chinese New Year in February to complete my list if I need to. The point is to make it work for whatever I’m going through … or, in this case whatever you are going through. Because …
Lately, friends who’ve observed my annual ritual, have asked me to lead them into a similar process.
And this year, for the first time I will! I’ve created the Finding 101 Wonderful Things:
A Year-end review ritual to build your happiness muscle bonus series for paid subscribers* to This Dream is a Poem.
*Anyone can become a Paid Subscriber for one month or a whole year! See options, including a pay-what-you-can offer for those who need it, below.
